Zurich - the little Big City

Tuesday June 4th - Friday June 7th, 2024

Scot wanted to go see the Alps, so we detoured into Zurich, Switzerland for a few days. This turned out to be one of our favorite places! My friend and Swiss expert, Yvonne, made some recommendations, so we went to Interlaken and Uetliberg, where she is from. They were both very sweet and awesome towns to visit. Interlaken is a small town between two lakes, Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. It is a hub for adventure sports, but you can also see some beautiful mountains from this spot. Uetliberg is Zurich's mountain, with beautiful views of the city and even the Alps on a clear day!

Zurich has a most impressive tram system for public transportation. It's also a very walkable town, which I like. But the most endearing feature is the charming people. Everyone was so friendly and nice and very helpful. It seems like a very safe city too, without the fear of scams or pick pockets.

Lindt Chocolates is in Zurich and we were hoping to get a tour of the factory. All sold out! But what they did have available was FAR better! We made our own chocolate bars and learned about the Lindt-Sprungli history as well! I would highly recommend this class. FYI - The chocolates are now only known as Lindt while the Sprungli name is now associated with pastry shops all over - they have the best little macaroons!
