Menara Garden and Menara Mall
Tuesday, May 21st, 2024
On the last day in Morocco, the kids wanted the "day off," so Scot and I just walked around the city a bit - went to Menara Garden and Menara Mall. The gardens are what you would expect a garden to look like in the middle of the dessert. . . very dry. The coolest thing we saw along the way was a solar "tree" on the sidewalk that had plugs for charging devices.
Menara Mall looked like a regular mall with its shops and cafes. On the top floor, however, there was a large arcade with everything from a carousel ride to VR machines. There is supposed to be a beautiful view of Marrakech from the balcony by the arcade, but it was closed due to renovations. The games were kind of pricey and definitely catered to the children of travelers looking for a break from the heat. The Menara Mall also had a short section with a little souk (market), that had all the souviners you might find at the large market at Jamaa-al fnaa, minus the haggling. All the prices were labeled and non-negotiable.
