Kia Ora! We flew to Auckland, New Zealand and landed a day later on February 13th at 9:20pm. It was easy to acclimate to the current time because we were exhausted! In actuality the time difference is 23 hours ahead of Maui, so it's only an hour ahead of Maui time, but a day ahead. . . we will get it back when we head back East.
The first full day we woke up on Valentine's day and decided to check out the Auckland Sky Tower. Seems like a tradition now to check out the towers of our travel cities. Auckland Sky Tower is 328 meters (1,076 feet) and a good height to view much of the area around Auckland. We witnessed a Wednesday sailing competition from the top, which looked like a bunch of sharks in the water.
The next day we met up with our friend and architect extraordinaire, James, who took us around to some beautiful vistas around Auckland City. I did not realize how much coastline Aotearoa New Zealand has! There are beaches and bays and fjords! SO much coastline meandering throughout the country! I had visited this country before but that fact did not stick with me. . . it will this time!
Stopping in the middle of the lobby to take this picture. They always seem to put this Welcome sign in the middle of the walkway as people are hurrying to customs!I'm hoping for enjoyment and enlightenment!Welcoming but a little scary too?We are ready for an Aotearoa Adventure! No city with a tower is not complete without a visit from the Listavich Family!Getting suckered into the green screen photo op!Brother shenanigans at the top!Watching a sailing competition from the top. They had a VR "rollercoaster ride" that Max and Zoe wanted to check out. Based on their reaction, it seemed underwhelming.Classic Sky Tower Shot! They light up the Auckland Sky Tower depending on the season and event. We visited on Valentine's Day, so not quite sure why it wasn't Red. . .Our friend James was our Auckland tour guide and Bach host. He drove us around and showed us some special spots around Auckland.Checking out the 360 views from this point. . . .It's hard to tell which are islands and which are just land jutting from the mainland. So many cool trails and walks with scenic views just in the Auckland area. New Zealand is filled with them!I love doing this little hikes and walks. . . Zoe, not so much. HahaPicture Perfect Views!
