On our way from Amsterdam to Paris, we decided to spend the day in Brussels, Belgium. I have always wanted to visit, and had planned on skipping this stop. However, when we looked at tickets directly from Amsterdam to Paris, they were very expensive! We looked at breaking up the trip and with the stop in Brussels, it only cost us about $60 to take the Eurail from Amsterdam to Brussels and then making our way to Paris (with a couple stops).
For a day trip, we covered a lot of ground! In addition to getting some delicious Belgian chocolate, we checked out the Atomium, the Grand Place and the famous peeing statue, Mannekin Pis.
Mannekin Pis! A famous Brussel statue. There is also a peeing girl (Jeanneke Pis) and a peeing dog, but we didn't make it those treasures.Brussels is very proud of their history of comics. They have murals of comics everywhere.A smurf mural on the ceiling outside the main train station.Very pretty looking waffels.I'm getting strangled by a Big Boa!The Grand Place! The Atomium - built for the World's Fair, it has held up over time and is a favorite place to visit. One of the big draws of coming to Brussles.
